Youngsters who are proficient in math can more consistently recruit specific brain regions and have larger volumes of gray matter in those regions than children who are not.The brain regions associated with higher math proficiency in children who perform well have been connected to a variety of cognitive functions, such as visual attention and decision-making.This study indicates that the same brain regions involved in math are also involved in attentional and decision-making processes, even though correlation does not imply causation.Contrary to popular belief, mathematical puzzles such as the one above have a lot of real-world applications! Our daily lives involve a great deal of math, and we use the skills we acquire from solving math problems on a daily basis without even realizing it.
