Education in India is provided by both the public sector and the private sectors, alike. Compulsory free education is one of the fundamental rights provided by the constitution of India. India’s progression and increase in its literacy ratio are cited as one of the major reason for it’s economic development. The Indian education system follows 5-levels of schooling: Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, 10th or Matriculation or Secondary exams and 12th or Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary. The pre-primary level of education is considered as the foundation stage of a child’s education. The pre-primary level shapes the child’s skills, knowledge, and behavior. After the completion of the pre-primary level, the child is sent to the primary level. The primary level of education also known as elementary education is imparted to children aged 6-14, to at times decrease the chances of them getting into child labor. After the completion of the primary level, the students are promoted to the Secondary level, consisting of students aged 12-18. This level is also sometimes known as Senior secondary, or +2.
